Back to School Mornings

Date: August 3, 2015 Categories: Blog

Summer is winding down, and parents and kids alike are gearing up for back to school.  Bed times are getting earlier, and you can’t walk into a store without a giant pencil pointing you in the direction of school supplies.  This can always be an exciting, but stressful time of year for your family.  Whether it is your first child starting kindergarten, or your youngest starting their senior year, it seems that transitioning to early mornings never gets easier. As a parent, your morning routine shifts from being lax to one of the most stressful parts of the day.  Instead of worrying how you’re going to make it out the door on time, here are some tips to make those school mornings more relaxed, and more importantly fun!

  • Start your Morning Routine Before School Starts

This may seem obvious, but starting your school morning routine before school even starts.  You can get all of the bumps and initial morning grumpiness out of the way before the first day!

  • Do it the Night Before

Again, this may seem obvious, but being able to wake up and not have to worry about packing lunches or backpacks is a reward in itself!

  • Play some Music

What better way to start out your day than dancing as you get dressed? Kids will love their favorite songs while brushing their teeth, and maybe even throw some of your own favorites in there.  No one has ever said that Journey at 7:00am is a bad thing.

All in all, mornings are rough on everyone, but hopefully with these tips, and a good attitude your school mornings can be less stressful.  For the full list of morning tips, click here.
