Jefferson CAC again recognized as a Partner in Prevention

Date: August 20, 2014 Categories: Blog

The Jefferson CAC is proud to announce that it has once again achieved the “Partner in Prevention” distinction, a nationally-recognized public standard to end child sexual abuse (CSA). The designation was awarded as a result of the Jefferson CAC’s commitment to protecting children in our community.

“Partner in Prevention” was created to help parents and caregivers recognize organizations that take child sexual abuse prevention seriously by implementing policy and training staff.

“Protecting children is our number one priority and it is important that we lead by example.” stated Erika Dupépé, Jefferson CAC’s Executive Director.

The training and designation award is provided by Charleston, SC-based Darkness to Light (D2L). D2L has championed the movement to end CSA since its founding in 2000 and now has education programs in 49 states and 15 foreign countries.

Organizations wishing to obtain the “Partner in Prevention” recognition must have 90 percent or more of their staff and volunteers trained on how to recognize the signs, react responsibly and ultimately help prevent child sexual abuse from occurring. The Jefferson CAC provides free D2L trainings for adults. For more information, or to schedule a training, contact the Jefferson CAC at (504) 364-3857 or vista@jeffersoncac.com.
