Tidwell and Kaiser Become Facilitators in Darkness to Light

Date: January 14, 2016 Categories: Blog

In November of 2015, Jefferson CAC Therapist Marti Tidwell and VISTA Hannah Kaiser had the opportunity to become facilitators in the research-based prevention program Darkness to Light. The training took eight hours, and was held in Hammond, LA. During the training, Marti and Hannah were both re-trained in the Stewards of Children prevention program, and then asked to take on the facilitator role. They left equipped, and with an excitement to train others on how to prevent child sexual abuse.

For those not familiar with the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children program, it is an evidence-based training that focuses on how adults can prevent child sexual abuse. It is our responsibility as adults to protect our children, and make sure that we are being proactive in making sure our children are safe. This training uses real people and their personal stories, along with experts who have been on the front lines of protecting our children.

If you, or someone you know is interested in bringing this engaging, two-hour training to your workplace, volunteer organization, or your community, please contact the Jefferson CAC at 364-3857, or email us at vista@jeffersoncac.com. All trainings that we provide are at no cost, and we will come to you. To learn more about Darkness to Light click here. Remember, child sexual abuse is not a children’s issue, but an adult’s responsibility.
